Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, Ex-oyo State governor, has refuted rumors of his demise, affirming that he is alive and well.
Speaking to The PUNCH at his residence in Molete, Ibadan, on Friday, Olunloyo addressed the speculation surrounding his purported passing, dismissing it as unfounded.
Contrary to reports circulating in some media outlets, Olunloyo stated, “I’m still here, not yet gone.” Expressing concern over the spread of false information, he pondered on the inevitability of mortality, remarking, “Those breaking death news and the person presumed dead will all die one day.”
Reflecting on his own longevity, Olunloyo shared insights into his family’s history, revealing that while his father passed away at 42 and his mother lived to be 102, he, at 89, has surpassed the anticipated lifespan. He emphasized the transient nature of life, acknowledging the fragility of human existence.
Addressing the genesis of the rumor, Olunloyo recounted the events of June 7, 2022, when news of his alleged demise spread across various news platforms. The reports falsely claimed that he had passed away at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
In response, his family issued a statement clarifying that while he was experiencing health challenges due to old age, he was indeed alive and urged Nigerians to pray for his recovery.
Olunloyo’s resolute affirmation of his vitality serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying information and exercising caution in the dissemination of news, particularly in matters concerning individuals’ well-being.
