The Kungurki community in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State, faced a harrowing night as armed bandits launched a brutal attack, killing an elderly man and abducting 13 individuals, including a two-month-old baby and his mother.
According to reports shared by Zagazola Makama, the attackers stormed the village under the cover of darkness, unleashing sporadic gunfire to instill fear among the residents. The bandits looted shops, seizing food items, household supplies, and other valuables before retreating into the forest with their captives.
“It was a terrifying experience,” said a resident, recounting how the assailants targeted women and children during the raid. The abductions have left the community in shock, as families await news of their loved ones.
This latest attack underscores the escalating insecurity in Zamfara State, where communities have repeatedly suffered at the hands of armed bandits.
