Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state has pleaded with the citizens of the state to bear with him on the current situation in the state associated with COVID-19 pandemic.
The Governor dropped this hint at a media parley today at Government House Bauchi.
Governor Bala Mohammed said steps geared towards securing ordinary citizens in the state from infection with any disease not only coronavirus will be taken as part of the government’s plans to tackle the outbreak of diseases.
He tasked critical stakeholders in the state to join hands with his administration in the management of COVID-19 pandemic and ensure compliance on the ban of Acaba operations and other protocols of NCDC.
” I welcome you to our routine media briefing by the State Task Force on COVID-19 on the situation on the ground, we as leaders we must come out and face the challenges, COVID-19 is everywhere in Nigeria.
” The current situation in Bauchi requires urgent attention, the government is managing the new cases but indigenes of the state should wake up and support the government in tackling the virus.”
Governor Bala Mohammed who expressed dissatisfaction with the non-compliance on the protocols of wearing face masks and hand washing especially at the worship centers and the violation of order on the ban of Acaba operations called for understanding in order to achieve the set objectives.
” I am pleading with Bauchi citizens and I want them to know that I will take all the steps to protect common man against this novel coronavirus.
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro, said the state government will consider scaling up the treatment of COVID-19 patients to General Hospitals across the state in an effort to ensure total eradication of the virus.
Dr. Maigoro said already, UNICEF and the World Health Organisation have declared interest to support the state to train health workers on COVID-19 management.
Other speakers are, the Chief of Staff, Government House Bauchi, Dr. Ladan Salihu, Commissioners of Information and Communications, Dr Honorable Garba Dahiru, and the Executive Chairman, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed.
