The Bauchi State Government, through its New Media Aide, Lawal Muazu Bauchi, has dismissed a report published by The Guardian Newspaper titled “Outrage as Bauchi Government Proposes N400 Million for SSG’s Office Computers.” The government labeled the report as inaccurate and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
The government refuted claims that N400 million was allocated to purchase six computers for the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Instead, it clarified that the actual budgeted amount is N250 million, earmarked for comprehensive IT infrastructure upgrades across various government agencies.
The N250 million allocation covers the procurement of 150 computers and associated IT infrastructure for use across multiple government institutions, including:
- Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA)
- Bauchi State Hajj Commission
- Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Service
- Select secondary schools
- Other vital government agencies
This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to modernizing public institutions and fostering digital transformation in Bauchi State.
The government described the report’s claims as a fabrication by detractors attempting to discredit the achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration. According to Lawal Muazu Bauchi, such false narratives expose the desperation of opposition groups rattled by the administration’s ongoing developmental strides.
The Bauchi State Government reaffirmed its dedication to accountability and responsible governance. It emphasized that the investment in IT infrastructure is part of broader efforts to enhance service delivery in healthcare, education, and other critical sectors.
The governor also advised that the public is urged to disregard the misleading claims in the report. The government remains focused on initiatives that improve the lives of Bauchi State residents and welcomes constructive engagement to ensure transparency in governance.
