Meta spokesperson Andy Stone acknowledged the issue, stating that the company was aware of the trouble users were experiencing and working to resolve it.
Facebook, which also owns Instagram and WhatsApp, has yet to provide detailed information about the cause of the outage or an estimated time for service restoration.
Downdetector reported around 200 outages for WhatsApp, another Meta-owned platform.
