Breaking News: The court sentenced Sheikh Abduljabbar to death by hanging

The Grand Islamic Court of Kano State has sentenced Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara to death by hanging for making disrespectful statements about the Prophet Muhammad.

The ruling was made on Thursday after Judge Ibrahim Sarki Yola found him guilty of all the charges against him.

Among the charges against him was the allegation that his sermons could incite violence in Kano State.

After finding him guilty, Judge Sarki Yola adjourned the court to allow the cleric to write his final statement before the sentence was carried out.”

After a brief period, the court reconvened and handed down the sentence.

Before the court adjourned, Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara made a final statement in which he claimed that his lawyer did not know him and that he did not seek forgiveness because he insisted he was not guilty. He called for the sentence to be carried out immediately.

On Friday, July 16, 2021, the Kano State government brought the cleric to court on charges of blasphemy and incitement of the public, which he denied.
