The Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu has directed traditional rulers at the grassroots to ensure full enforcement of the total lockdown of borders of the state with strict surveillance.
The Emir gave the warning today at a stakeholders meeting on COVID-19 chaired by Governor Bala Mohammed held at Command Guest Bauchi.
Dr Rilwanu Adamu who is the Chairman of the State Palliative Committee warned that, traditional institution in Bauchi state will be decisive in dealing with violators of the borders lockdown order.
He pledged their readiness to support the state government to implement all its policies and programmes geared towards curbing the spread of coronovirus.
Stakeholders who spoke at the meeting while applauding Governor Bala Mohammed for not ordering for the total lockdown of the state, assured of their support in any decision taken against the virus.
According to them, community transmission of the virus can be tackle through contact tracing, testing, observing social distancing, personal hygiene and the use of face masks.
They also suggested for intensive awareness on the dangers of COVID-19 pandemic at the grassroots and commended the government for engaging them in decision making.
In their individual contributions, renewed their support to the figh against infection with coronovirus and tackling it spread in the state.
Governor Bala Mohammed who chaired the Stakeholders Meeting, expressed gratitude to all the critical stakeholders for their outstanding contribution to the state government at this critical period of coronovirus.
“We thank you for your commitment and leadership, we know that without you, we will not be able to take some of the milestones we have taken.
” We will continue to engage you in any decision we will take in curtailing this deadly disease, we really appreciate your support to us.
“We have resolved to enforce observing social distancing at worship centres, markers and other public places so that we can reduce infection with the virus.
” Bauchi state will continue to work on its own peculiar way by making sure their is community and stakeholders engagement.”
