Supporters of Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi have rejected a circulating consensus list for National Assembly nominations from Plateau State. The list, which surfaced on social media, claims to endorse candidates for senatorial and House of Representatives seats. Gagdi’s camp described the publication as fake, misleading, and entirely fabricated. No such decision has been made at any level.
Hon. Josiah Takorah, the Special Assistant to Gagdi, signed the statement on behalf of supporters. The statement said the fake list is the handiwork of desperate political elements. These elements have become unsettled by Gagdi’s overwhelming popularity and grassroots acceptance.
The statement categorically stated that the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada, is not aware of any such list. Also, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Bar. Caleb Mutfwang, has no knowledge of the publication. The party’s national chairman has neither approved nor endorsed any consensus arrangement.
According to Gagdi’s camp, the fake news has ironically amplified the lawmaker’s political relevance. The statement noted that Gagdi remains the most widely accepted candidate for the House of Representatives. His support comes from grassroots party structures and stakeholders across the state.
This rejection exposes deepening internal tensions within the Plateau State APC ahead of nominations. Gagdi’s supporters have urged party faithful to disregard the fabricated list entirely. The focus remains on strengthening the party and consolidating progressive leadership. The APC national secretariat has not yet issued an official response.
