According to eyewitnesses, the gas-laden tanker collided with a road culvert after experiencing brake failure, triggering a fierce blaze. The intense inferno engulfed surrounding vehicles and shops, causing extensive damage to the area.
Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the tragic event. She revealed that the deceased, suspected to be the motorboy of the gas-laden tanker, was trapped in the flames.
Additionally, two individuals sustained injuries in the accident.
Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by the explosion. In a statement, he extended heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and sympathized with those affected by the incident.
