House of Representatives Reviews Conference Committee on Electoral Act

The House of Representatives has announced a review of the composition of its Conference Committee on the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill. The move follows an earlier statement on the matter and is intended to strengthen the Committee’s ability to effectively harmonise areas of disagreement between the versions of the Bill passed by the two Chambers of the National Assembly.

In a letter dated Thursday, February 5, 2026, the Clerk to the House of Representatives, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Esq., conveyed the directive of the House Leadership approving the revised membership of the Committee as follows:

  1. Rep. Adebayo Balogun – Chairman
  2. Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase
  3. Rep. Fred Agbedi
  4. Rep. Sada Soli
  5. Rep. Ahmadu Jaha
  6. Rep. Igariwey Iduma Enwo
  7. Rep. Saidu Musa Abdullahi
  8. Rep. Dr. Zainab Gimba
  9. Rep. Dr. Awaji-Inombek D. Abiante

The Committee is tasked with engaging its counterpart from the Senate to reconcile differing provisions in the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, with the aim of achieving a unified version for final legislative consideration.

The House of Representatives reiterates its firm commitment to pursuing electoral reforms that will promote transparency, strengthen credibility, and deepen public trust in Nigeria’s democratic process.
