JED PLC Temporarily Downgrades 33 Feeders Across Lower Bands

Energy Distribution Constraints Lead to Temporary Feeder Downgrades by JED PLC

Jos, Nigeria – December 2, 2024: The Jos Electricity Distribution PLC (JED) has announced the temporary downgrade of 33 electricity feeders to lower tariff bands. This decision, effective immediately, is due to the company’s inability to meet energy distribution requirements for Band A customers.

A detailed analysis of the affected feeders shows:

The company has assured customers that this downgrade is temporary and efforts are underway to restore the feeders to their original tariff bands. Customers will not be charged Band A rates but will continue paying based on their current downgraded status.

Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, JED’s Head of Corporate Communications, cited recent disruptions in power supply lasting over 10 days as the reason for this decision. He expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and extended appreciation to customers for their patience during this period.

“We remain committed to providing reliable and efficient electricity,” Dr. Elijah affirmed. He also emphasized that the company’s technical teams are working diligently to resolve the challenges affecting these feeders.
