Abba Garba Ibrahim, 25, known as “Dan ‘Kuda,” allegedly used a knife to stab Zaharaddeen Iliyasu, 22, in the neck, leading to his untimely demise at Chiranci Dorayi Quarters in Kano.
Promptly responding to the distress call received at 10:30 pm on March 29th, Commissioner of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel swiftly ordered the cordoning off of entry and exit points of the state to prevent the suspect’s escape. Police operatives, under the leadership of Divisional Police Officer CSP Ya’u Sadiq Abdul from Panshekara Division, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the victim’s body was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, where a medical examination confirmed his demise. Meanwhile, the suspect, Abba Garba Ibrahim, was apprehended attempting to flee to Niger Republic.
The situation was swiftly contained, and the suspect was transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for discreet investigation. During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the act while under the influence of intoxicating substances.
Commissioner of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel assured residents of Kano of a thorough investigation and prosecution process. He urged the community to continue cooperating with law enforcement and provide any necessary assistance.
