The Nigeria Police Force has extended an official invitation to the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Sanusi Lamido Sanusi Ph.D., to attend an investigative meeting at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja. The invitation follows an incident that reportedly occurred during the recent Sallah celebration within the Kano Emirate.
According to a letter dated 4th April, 2025 and signed by CP Olajide Rufus Ibitoye, the Commissioner of Police (Operations), the meeting is being convened under the directive of the Inspector General of Police and is aimed at shedding light on the said incident.
The Emir is requested to appear at the Force Intelligence Department, opposite the Police Force Headquarters, Area 11, Abuja, by 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The police emphasized that the Emir’s presence is crucial for what they described as a “purposeful investigation.”
The nature of the incident prompting the investigation has not been disclosed by the authorities, but sources suggest it may be related to security or political developments during the Sallah festivities.
This development comes amid heightened attention on traditional institutions and their roles in community leadership and conflict resolution across the country.
