President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially flagged off the construction of the Akwanga-Jos Superhighway (Section I), a 125-kilometre stretch of his administration’s fourth Legacy Project. Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State described the event as a profound honour and privilege. The project is the first section of the 700-kilometre, six-lane Superhighway connecting Akwanga, Jos, Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Biu, and Maiduguri.
Governor Mutfwang joined the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who represented the President. Also present were the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Nweze Umahi, members of the Federal Executive Council, and distinguished members of the National and State Assemblies. Other eminent Nigerians also attended the historic event.
The Governor described the project as a transformational infrastructure corridor. It will boost economic activities, strengthen national unity, improve security, and unlock enormous opportunities for millions of Nigerians. For the people of Plateau State and neighbouring communities, this is the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration.
Governor Mutfwang thanked President Tinubu for approving and commencing this landmark project.
