Tinubu Orders Service Chiefs to Relocate to Maiduguri After Deadly Bomb Attacks

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s Service Chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to take full control of the security situation following deadly bomb attacks in the city.

The directive comes after multiple explosions reportedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, which killed more than 20 people and injured over 100 others.

Reports indicate that the attacks occurred around 7:25 p.m. on Monday, when terrorists launched coordinated assaults across parts of Borno State, causing panic among residents.

Tinubu Condemns Attacks

Reacting to the tragic incident shortly before departing for a state visit to the United Kingdom, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured Nigerians that the government would not allow terrorism to prevail.

“The recent news from Maiduguri, Borno State, is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured, and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this difficult time,” the president said.

He described the attacks as desperate attempts by terrorist groups to spread fear, insisting that security forces were already putting them under intense pressure.

“These acts of terror are the final desperate attempts by criminal and terrorist elements trying to instil fear, as they are already under constant pressure from our brave armed forces and security agencies,” he added.

Security Forces Commended

President Tinubu praised the courage of Nigerian troops who successfully repelled several coordinated attacks on military positions in the state.

He noted that the attacks were acts of desperation by extremist groups, and assured citizens that the military, alongside the civilian joint task force, would bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Our gallant military and civilian task forces will curtail and put them down,” he stated.

New Security Measures Approved

The president also revealed that during a recent security meeting with heads of intelligence and security agencies, he approved additional equipment and operational support to strengthen the capabilities of the armed forces.

According to him, the process of deploying the new resources is already underway.

Service Chiefs Ordered to Take Charge

To further strengthen security operations in the region, Tinubu directed the Service Chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri and coordinate efforts to restore stability.

He also instructed emergency response agencies to ensure proper medical care and support for victims injured in the attacks.

“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” the president declared.
