The Judicial Commission of Inquiry on the Lanzai-Dosho crisis says public cooperation is vital to achieving justice, reconciliation, and lasting peace in Bauchi State.

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry established by the Bauchi State Government to investigate the Lanzai-Dosho communal crisis has appealed to residents and stakeholders to support its work for a successful outcome.

The Chairman of the Commission, Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa, made the appeal during a meeting of commission members at the Government House in Bauchi.

According to Khadi Marafa, members of the commission met to discuss strategies and operational guidelines for carrying out their assignment effectively.

He explained that the commission would carefully examine both the immediate and underlying causes of the crisis. The goal, he said, is to provide recommendations that can prevent similar incidents in the future.

The chairman assured residents that the commission would conduct its work professionally, fairly, and transparently. Khadi Marafa stated that the commission’s responsibility goes beyond investigating the incidents that occurred between the affected communities.

He noted that the assignment also aims to promote reconciliation, strengthen unity, and support peaceful coexistence among residents. According to him, the commission remains committed to justice, peace, and the overall development of Bauchi State.

The chairman called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and other stakeholders to cooperate fully with the commission. He urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist the commission in carrying out its assignment.

Khadi Marafa emphasized that every contribution would help the commission uncover the facts surrounding the crisis and develop practical recommendations.

The commission assured residents that all submissions, testimonies, and evidence received during the investigation would be handled confidentially. According to the chairman, the commission will follow the principles of fairness and natural justice throughout the exercise.

He expressed confidence that public support would enable the commission to complete its work successfully and provide valuable recommendations to the state government.

Khadi Marafa said the findings of the commission would help the Bauchi State Government take appropriate measures to improve peace and security in Darazo Local Government Area.

He added that lessons learned from the investigation could also help prevent conflicts in other parts of the state. According to him, the outcome of the inquiry may contribute significantly to peaceful coexistence across all 20 local government areas of Bauchi State.

The chairman stressed that maintaining peace remains the responsibility of every citizen. He therefore urged residents to set aside personal differences and support all efforts aimed at promoting unity, justice, and social harmony.

He further encouraged citizens to prioritize the collective interest of Bauchi State and work together to build a peaceful future for coming generations.

As the Lanzai-Dosho Crisis Investigation begins, the Judicial Commission of Inquiry says cooperation from affected communities and stakeholders will be critical to achieving justice, reconciliation, and lasting peace.
