Kano Police Arrest 6 Notorious Mobile Phone Thieves, Recover 15 Stolen Phones and Tricycles

The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended six suspected mobile phone thieves who have been terrorizing residents of Kano Metropolis. The operation also led to the recovery of two operational tricycles and 15 stolen mobile phones.

The arrests were made between January 11 and 15, 2025, by the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives conducted raids on criminal hideouts and black spots across the city, resulting in the breakthrough.

Suspects Arrested

The suspects, all residents of Kano Metropolis, include:
1. Bashir Isah
2. Isyaku Bala
3. Mudansir Ayuba
4. Muzambil Abdullahi
5. Ibrahim Mohammed
6. Hassan Sagir

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to specializing in stealing passengers’ mobile phones while disguising as tricycle operators.

Items Recovered
• Two Operational Tricycles with registration numbers KBT-850WZ and DAL-113WZ.
• Fifteen Stolen Mobile Phones.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has urged anyone who recognizes their stolen mobile phone or tricycle among the recovered items to visit the Public Relations Office of the Kano State Command or call 07063407910 for further assistance.

Police Commitment to Security

CP Salman Dogo Garba commended the officers and men involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication. He also expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and support, which played a key role in the success of the operation.

The CP reiterated the Command’s commitment to cracking down on all forms of criminality in Kano State, including mobile phone theft, armed robbery, and thuggery (Daba).
