Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called on political, religious, and community leaders in Plateau State to embrace unity and forgiveness in the wake of recent deadly attacks.
He made the appeal on Thursday during a leadership retreat in Jos, where discussions focused on reconciliation, governance, and long-term peace.
The governor’s call follows recent attacks in communities such as Angwan Rukuba and Bokkos, which left many people dead and displaced.
Mutfwang stressed the need for leaders to set aside differences and work together, noting that unity is key to overcoming the state’s security and development challenges.
The retreat brought together former governors, including Jonah Jang, alongside other key stakeholders to address the root causes of recurring violence and promote lasting peace.
The initiative follows a recent visit by President Bola Tinubu, who pledged federal support to tackle insecurity in the state.
Governor Mutfwang expressed optimism that continued dialogue and cooperation among leaders would help restore stability and rebuild trust in affected communities.
