A Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s southern city of Odesa overnight has killed an elderly married couple and left more than a dozen people injured, according to Ukrainian officials on Friday.
Emergency services reported that the strike destroyed two two-storey buildings and hit another residential structure where the couple, both aged 75, lost their lives.
The attack also damaged apartments in a nearby three-storey building, triggering a fire that required immediate response from rescue teams.
Serhiy Lysak, head of the local military administration, confirmed the casualties, stating that at least 15 people were injured, while emergency services reported 14 injured victims.
According to officials, eight of the injured were taken to hospital for treatment, while others received medical attention at the scene.
Photos shared by authorities showed buildings engulfed in flames, structural damage with large holes in walls, and emergency workers carrying out rescue operations.
The latest strike highlights the ongoing impact of drone attacks on civilian areas, as casualties and infrastructure damage continue to rise in affected regions.
