COVID-19: Bauchi Governor intracts with citizens via phone call
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state today addressed citizens of the state on the prevalence of COVID-19 pandemic where he later interacted with them through phone call.
The Governor in the live broadcast aired in all the radio stations in the state, regretted that, people especially at the grassroots who voted him to power are now suffering from the measures taken by the government to tackle the spread of coronavirus disease.
He pledged to work round the clock towards ensuring that, they are being provided with the required support so as to overcome some of their challenges.
According to him, already the state has provided over 500 bed spaces for the treatment of patients of COVID-19.
Governor Bala Mohammed highlighted some of the new measures to be taken to curb the further spread of the disease, said all the measures would be implemented in line with international best practices.
The Governor who used the medium to cleared the air on the number of deaths in Azare, Headquarters of Katagum Local Government, said so far only 150 dead have been reported within 1 month and it was not all that are related to COVID-19.
He assured residents of the affected areas of the total lockdown that his administration will provide them with food items through the State Palliative Committee in order to assist them during the critical period.
He insisted for the use of face masks, regular hand washing and use of hand sanitizers in an efforts not to be infected with the deadly disease.
Governor Bala Mohammed who responded to many calls from citizens across the state, pledged for action on some of their suggestions and observations.
The Governor therefore assured to set up a special committee to ensure citizens of the state are not illegally intimidated by those assigned to implement or enforce the various government’s policies introduced to fight the virus.
Others who spoke at the live broadcast are the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro and the Executive Chairman of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed.
