A prominent Islamic Cleric in the state Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Guruntun has called on Muslims to shun vices and seek forgiveness of their sins from Allah as the best way to check the influx of diseases like Coronavirus.
Sheikh Tijjani Guruntun made the call during the weekly Qur’anic Tafseer session at the School of Nursing Mosque, Bauchi.
According to him, Allah tests the Iman of his servants in so many ways, describing the outbreak of Coronavirus, Lassa Fever, and other deathly diseases ravaging the world as the will of Allah.
Sheikh Guruntun who quoted the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad, said Muslims have been barred from entering areas where there is an outbreak of epidemics while those living in the affected areas were prevented from moving out of their places.
The Islamic Scholar who commended the foresight of the federal government on tackling the menace of the disease said all hands should be on deck to support the government in that direction.
On the closure of Mosques by the Saudi Arabian authorities and other Muslim nations, Sheikh Guruntun said the measure did not contravene Islamic teaching, describing Islam as a complete way of life.
He advised the people to cooperate and support the state and the federal governments on all measures they embarked upon to curtail the spread of epidemics in our communities.
Sheikh Tijjani Guruntun called on social media users to desist from spreading fake news via their various mediums, warning that people would be judged by Allah according to their actions on the day of judgment.
On the preventive measures for the disease, the Cleric called on Muslims to follow the guidelines of professionals, stressing that promoting personal hygiene among the people is the best way to prevent the spread of epidemics.
