ADC Faction Using Emotional Blackmail Over Party Crisis – Keyamo

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has accused the faction of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark of relying on emotional blackmail rather than addressing the legal issues surrounding the party’s leadership dispute.
Keyamo stated that the law is guided by facts, evidence, and proper legal interpretation—not sympathy, emotions, or political sentiments. His comments followed the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of the ADC faction led by Mark.
According to the minister, arguments about restoring the party to its previous state are irrelevant because a legal challenge over the party’s leadership takeover remains pending in court. He warned that if the matter is not resolved before the deadline for candidate nominations, the ADC could risk having no candidates in the upcoming elections.
Keyamo advised the party to appreciate INEC’s action, describing it as a timely warning that allows the party to resolve its leadership crisis, seek an accelerated court hearing, or consider alternative political platforms.
He also dismissed claims blaming INEC or the ruling All Progressives Congress, stating that the politicians involved created the problem themselves by attempting to take over the party without resolving internal leadership issues or obtaining proper legal guidance.

Despite the electoral body’s decision and the ruling of the Court of Appeal, the ADC faction has insisted it will proceed with its planned congresses and convention.
Reacting to the move, Keyamo remarked that allowing opponents to continue making mistakes could ultimately work against them politically.
