Bauchi Govt Distributes Vehicles to Emirs, District Heads

The Bauchi State Government has distributed official vehicles to newly appointed emirs and district heads as part of efforts to strengthen the traditional institution and enhance grassroots governance.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony in Bauchi, the governor described traditional rulers as key partners in maintaining peace and stability. “Our royal fathers are custodians of our heritage and the closest link between government and the grassroots,” he said.
Governor Bala Mohammed explained that the vehicles—GMC saloon cars, 18-seater Toyota buses, and Mitsubishi Hilux trucks—are meant to support the day-to-day responsibilities of the beneficiaries. “These vehicles will enhance your mobility and enable you to engage more effectively with your communities,” he added.
He noted that traditional rulers play critical roles in conflict resolution, community mobilization, and dissemination of government policies. According to him, their contributions remain essential to sustaining peace and development across the state.
The governor also reiterated that the creation of additional emirates and districts was designed to promote inclusion and strengthen local administration. “The intention is to bring governance closer to the people and ensure wider participation,” he explained.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the vehicles responsibly, stressing that they are public assets. “These resources are entrusted to you for the benefit of your people and must be managed with accountability,” he cautioned.
In a goodwill message, the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, commended the state government for the gesture, describing it as a boost to the effectiveness of traditional institutions in the state.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Isa Babayo Tilde, said the initiative would strengthen collaboration between government and traditional rulers, thereby promoting peace, unity, and development across Bauchi State.
