Tanker Explosion Reported Near Kuwaiti Waters
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior confirmed that a large explosion on a tanker occurred more than 60 kilometres from the Mubarak al-Kabeer port, outside the country’s territorial waters.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the vessel’s captain reported hearing a loud explosion on the tanker’s port side. Shortly afterward, a small craft was seen leaving the area, raising suspicions about the cause of the blast.
While all crew members were reported safe, the tanker sustained damage and began taking on water. Oil was also seen leaking from a cargo tank, raising concerns about possible environmental pollution in the surrounding waters.
