Gospel Singer Timilehin Ajayi Arraigned for Murder of NYSC Member Salome Adaidu

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arraigned gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi at the Nasarawa State High Court in Lafia for the alleged murder of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving at Nicon Insurance, Abuja.

Ajayi, 32, is accused of gruesomely dismembering Salome, who was reportedly his girlfriend, during a visit to his residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

The suspect appeared in court on Friday, January 17, 2025, where he was arraigned on a single count of Culpable Homicide punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria. Following his arraignment, the court ordered his remand at a correctional facility in Lafia, pending the scheduling of a formal trial.

Ajayi was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s head after dismembering her body.

The case has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for justice for the young NYSC member, whose life was cut short in such a horrific manner.
