
The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has formally bid farewell to 1,019 intending pilgrims embarking on the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, urging them to uphold exemplary conduct and offer fervent prayers for the peace and unity of both Plateau State and Nigeria.
The send-off ceremony, held at the Jos Central Mosque, was presided over by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Mrs Josephine Piyo, who represented the Governor during the event on Monday.
Governor Mutfwang, in his message, reminded the pilgrims that Hajj is a sacred religious obligation and a transformational spiritual experience, calling on them to embrace the journey with humility, devotion, and full compliance with the laws of Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
“As I bid you farewell, I urge you to pray for our beloved Plateau State and Nigeria. Be ambassadors of peace and unity, and demonstrate good conduct throughout your pilgrimage,” he said.
The Governor praised the pilgrims for their commitment and sacrifice in undertaking the sacred journey, assuring them of government’s full support. He also disclosed that trained officials had been deployed to assist and guide the pilgrims throughout the Hajj.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Daiyabu Dauda, thanked Governor Mutfwang for his unwavering support, especially for allocating a permanent site for the board’s operations. He urged contractors to fast-track construction work for commissioning before the end of the Hajj.
Also speaking, the Amirul Hajj and Emir of Wase, His Royal Highness Muhammad Sambo II, expressed gratitude to the state government for the confidence bestowed upon him and other appointed officials. He pledged their full dedication to ensuring a successful and spiritually rewarding pilgrimage for all pilgrims from the state.
The event drew religious leaders, government officials, families of the pilgrims, and well-wishers who offered prayers for a safe journey and divine acceptance of the Hajj rites.
