Governor Uba Sani Clears Over $247,000 in Outstanding Foreign Tuition Fees for Kaduna State Students

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has cleared the backlog of outstanding foreign tuition fees amounting to $247,235.84 (₦407,937,750) for students sponsored by the state government in various overseas universities. This significant intervention is part of his administration’s commitment to human capital development and expanding access to quality education for indigent students.
According to a press release on May 10, 2025 issued by the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, the payment covers tuition debts owed by students studying Medicine, Nursing, and other courses in institutions across the UK, Hungary, Dubai, Cuba, and Uganda. Many of these students had been left stranded abroad by the previous administration, unable to graduate, renew visas, or access their academic records.
The tuition fees settled include $51,400 (₦84,810,000) for Debrecen University in the UK/Hungary, $13,827.08 (₦22,814,550) for the University of Wollongong in Dubai, $164,010 (₦270,616,500) for Medical University Havana, and $17,998.76 (₦29,696,700) for KIU/IUIU in Uganda.
Governor Sani has also instructed the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board to liaise with all foreign institutions where Kaduna State students are enrolled to verify and settle any other unpaid tuition that may not have been captured in the Master List.
This effort aims to end the hardship many students are facing and ensure that no student is denied educational opportunities due to financial constraints.
