Kano State Police Command Arrests Suspected Motor Vehicle Thief, Recovers Stolen Rav-4
The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected motor vehicle thief and the recovery of a stolen Rav-4 SUV. This breakthrough was achieved following an operation by the Anti-Car Theft Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
On 28th December 2024, at approximately 5:00 PM, officers recovered an abandoned ash-colored Rav-4 vehicle with registration number YAB 881 JK, Abuja, during a visibility patrol at Kwanar Ungogo, Ungogo LGA, Kano State.
Arrest of the Principal Suspect
Following preliminary investigations, Bala Sani, a 40-year-old male from Funtua LGA, Katsina State, was arrested on 4th January 2025 in Kwado Quarters, Katsina LGA, Katsina State.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with an accomplice to steal the vehicle from Zaria, Kaduna State. He revealed that he had driven the vehicle to Kano intending to sell it. However, upon spotting police officers near Ungogo Junction, he abandoned the vehicle and fled to his hometown.
Vehicle Recovery and Investigation
The recovered vehicle is currently in the custody of the Kano State Police Command. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged in court once the process is complete.
Call for Vehicle Owner
The Command has urged the rightful owner of the motor vehicle to visit the Police Public Relations Office, Kano State Command, or call 08067885568 with proof of ownership to claim the vehicle.
