North East Governors demand Federal Government to provide mechanism to end activities of insurgents in the region

Lawal Muazu Bauchi The Special Assistant (New Media) to Governor Bala Mohammed on Wednesday said:

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi hosts the 4th meeting of the North East Governors’ Forum at the Banquet Hall, Government House Bauchi.

In his welcoming address, Governor Bala said the Government and people of Bauchi State have looked forward to this opportunity to host the meeting with a lot of enthusiasm.

The Governor who was delighted that the North East Governors’ Forum has lived up to its vision as a bipartisan platform said it has grown from strength to strength since it’s inauguration.

He said security of lives and properties of citizens would once again dominate discussions during the meeting considering rate of insecurity in the region.

Governor Bala stressed the need for concretization of the already conceived North East Regional Masterplan for the economic rejuvenation of the region.

The Governor said in Bauchi State, his commitment to the rapid transformation of the society is evidenced in the massive infrastructural projects that are running concurrently all over the State.

He said before Bauchi hosts the meeting again, the new Bauchi will take shape with all the appurtenances of a modern city.

In his speech, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State who is the Chairman of the North East Governors’ Forum said in the previous meetings of the forum, discussions on the number of challenges facing people and governments of the North East sub region were made.

He made recommendations for protection of schools in the region and for the Federal Government to provide mechanism to end activities of insurgents.

In attendance are Governors of Borno, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi while governors of Taraba and Yobe states are being represented by their Deputies.
