Ribadu’s Office Allocates N500m for Presidential Aircraft Hangar in 2026 Budget
The Office of Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), headed by Nuhu Ribadu, has earmarked N500 million in the 2026 budget for the construction of a hangar for presidential aircraft.
A review of the 2026 budget by SaharaReporters shows that the proposed hangar is designated for the Presidential Air Fleet, which is operated by the Nigerian Air Force on behalf of the Presidency. Such facilities are typically used for housing, servicing, and safeguarding high-value aircraft deployed for official state duties.
The allocation forms part of broader spending plans for the Presidential Air Fleet in the 2026 fiscal year. Budget details indicate that the Federal Government plans to spend N6 billion on aircraft engine overhauls. Of this amount, N3.859 billion is set aside for the overhaul of the engines of a Gulfstream G550 jet (registration 5N-FGW), while N2.19 billion is allocated for the overhaul of two Falcon 7X engines also used for presidential operations.
In addition to engine maintenance, the budget provides N1.2 billion for general aircraft maintenance and N1.5 billion for aircraft fuelling, highlighting the recurring costs of keeping the presidential fleet operational.
Separately, budget documents also reveal significant allocations for presidential travel. President Bola Tinubu is expected to spend N6.1 billion on international travels and N873 million on local trips in 2026. Vice President Kashim Shettima is projected to spend N1.3 billion on foreign travels, bringing total foreign travel expenditure for both leaders to N7.4 billion.
The budget further shows that N375 million has been earmarked for the supply of foodstuffs and catering materials during the 2026 fiscal year.
