YFI Endorses Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar for Bauchi Governorship
A youth based political advocacy group, the Youth Forward Initiative (YFI), Bauchi State Chapter, has officially declared its support for the governorship aspiration of former Bauchi State Governor, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN), ahead of the next political dispensation in the state.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference held in Bauchi on Friday, where the Chairman of the organization, Garba M. Musa, said the decision followed extensive consultations with members, community leaders, party stakeholders, and other relevant groups across the state.
According to Musa, the group carefully assessed the credentials, leadership records, and governance capacities of individuals aspiring to lead Bauchi State before arriving at its decision to back the former governor.
He stated that one of the major factors that informed the endorsement was Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar’s experience in governance, having previously served as governor of the state.
“Leadership is not an experiment. Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar possesses practical knowledge of governance, public administration, policy implementation, and resource management.
At a time when Bauchi State requires tested leadership, experience remains a valuable asset,” he said.
The group also cited what it described as the former governor’s commitment to fiscal discipline and prudent management of public resources during his tenure, particularly at a period marked by economic recession, declining federal allocations, and other financial challenges confronting states across the country.
YFI further commended the former governor’s emphasis on due process and institutional reforms, noting that strong institutions remain critical to sustainable development and effective governance.
Speaking on the aspirations of young people, the group said it was looking forward to leadership capable of creating employment opportunities, attracting investments, supporting entrepreneurship, and expanding economic prospects for youths in the state.
Musa expressed confidence that Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar’s experience, professional network, and leadership background would enable him to engage development partners and investors for programmes targeted at youth empowerment and economic growth.
The organization also highlighted the need for peace, stability, and unity in Bauchi State, maintaining that the former governor possesses the maturity and experience required to provide inclusive leadership capable of bringing diverse interests together.
While declaring its support, YFI urged the former governor to sustain engagement with youths and prioritize key areas including employment generation, entrepreneurship development, education, skills acquisition, agricultural empowerment, digital innovation, technology advancement, inclusive governance, and community development.
The group pledged to continue mobilizing and educating young people across the state to participate actively in the democratic process while promoting issue based politics and supporting leaders committed to the welfare and development of the people.
“Today, we proudly and officially declare our support for Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN). We do so not out of sentiment, but based on our assessment of leadership experience, governance capacity, and commitment to the development of Bauchi State,” Musa stated.
He called on youth groups, community leaders, stakeholders, and residents of the state to work together towards building a prosperous and united Bauchi State.
