Governor Bala receives reports of the state COVID-19 economic recovery committee
Bauchi State Government is to look for alternative revenue to ensure sustainability and continuity.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed made the remark while receiving the report of the State COVID-19 Economic Recovery Committee held at the Government House Bauchi.
The governor who insisted that his administration cannot afford to fail the citizens of the state in her effort of making a different without insulting anybody.
According to him, looking for alternative revenue is a key in assisting him to continue with the execution of the developmental projects geared towards ensuring the advancement of the state.
On the report submitted to him by the Committee, the governor pledged to come up with the implementation framework to achieve the set objectives.
“My good people of Bauchi state, I assure you that you will have a sound sleeping, we will make sure we satisfy you so that we can fulfill our campaign promises.”
On his part, the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Aminu Hassan Gamawa who is the Chairman of the Committee,pledged the readiness of the committee to assist in ensuring the full implementation of the recommendations.
Dr Aminu Gamawa said the committee had worked diligently in accordance with its terms of reference through the use of different methodologies including, stakeholder engagement, dialogue, and review of measures taken by other states.
” We have looked at different sectors of the economy that are key to ensure the state has alternative sources of revenue, economic growth and sustainability and to ensure that COVID-19 does not affect our economy.
He lamented that the negative effect of the COVID-19 pandemic did not only affect the Health sector, but the economy of the world as whole.
It will be recall that, the State COVID-19 Economic Recovery Committee was set up by Governor Bala Mohammed to identify clearly alternative sources of funds that will augment the current revenue of the state.
