Comedy or Crime? Northern Skit Maker Arrested by EFCC for “Staging” Naira Abuse in Viral Video

“Come Arrest Me If You Can” — Content Creator’s Joke Backfires as EFCC Nabs Him in Kaduna for Stepping on ₦5 Notes

What was meant to be a humorous skit has turned into a criminal case, as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kaduna have arrested rising content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, popularly known as @youngcee0066, for allegedly abusing the Nigerian Naira in a viral video.

In the now-controversial clip posted on TikTok and Instagram, the young comedian — known for his Hausa-language comedy — was seen throwing ₦5 notes on the ground, stepping on them deliberately, and mockingly daring the EFCC to “come arrest me if una fit.”

EFCC operatives tracked him to the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna, where he was arrested and taken to the Zonal Directorate for interrogation.

“His actions clearly violate the CBN Act prohibiting abuse of the national currency,” an EFCC official stated.

Though the total value of the Naira notes used in the skit reportedly did not exceed ₦20,000, the incident has sparked widespread debate online — with some defending the act as “harmless comedy”, and others calling it “a reckless insult to national symbols.”

Authorities say Sa’ad will be charged to court after investigations are concluded, raising serious questions about the line between content creation and criminal conduct.
