LASEPA Seals Club, Hotel Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed a nightclub and a hotel in separate enforcement operations over persistent noise pollution and repeated violations of environmental regulations. The facilities, Westgate Arena Club in Olowora and Dave Premium and Suites in Alapere, Ketu, were shut on Monday. The action followed continued non-compliance with environmental directives and abatement notices.
According to a statement posted on Tuesday on LASEPA’s X handle, the enforcement was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab. The operation is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to enforce environmental laws and protect public health.
LASEPA said Westgate Arena Club, located on Apostolic Church Close, Olowora, was sealed over persistent noise pollution and failure to comply with the agency’s directives. Dave Premium and Suites, located on Alhaji Irorun Street, off Kazeem Street, Alapere, Ketu, was also shut for similar environmental violations.
“The enforcement exercise followed repeated environmental infractions, particularly noise pollution, as well as the affected establishments’ failure to comply with abatement notices and other regulatory requirements aimed at protecting the environment and the well-being of the residents,” the statement read.
Speaking on the operation, the General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, said the agency remained committed to protecting public health and promoting a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment across the state. He emphasised that environmental compliance is a collective responsibility.
Ajayi urged residents, business owners, and operators of hospitality and entertainment establishments to adopt environmentally responsible practices and cooperate with regulatory authorities. He said the agency would continue to deploy all lawful measures to ensure full compliance with environmental regulations without compromise.
