Bauchi Governor receives federal ministry of mines delegation
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed today recieved in audience, officials of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development who paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.
Governor Bala who welcomed the delegation to Bauchi and declared interest in supporting the development of mining sector.
He appreciated the Minister of Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development for selecting Bauchi State for the implementation of the ASM Cluster development project in North East Geopolitical zone.
The Governor said implementation of the cluster in the state will enhance value chains in the sector.
He lamented the leakages in the revenue being collected from miners and appealed for all hands to be on deck to tackle the problem.
Governor Bala promised to support the Ministry for successful implementation of the project in the state for it’s own benefit.
Earlier speaking, leader of the delegation and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade said the team is in Bauchi to intimate the Governor about Bauchi been selected for the implementation of the project ASM Cluster development project.
She said the project will organize the Artisanal and Small Scale Operators in the project area into clusters/ cooperatives.
The Permanent Secretary on behalf of the ministry thanked Governor Bala for graciously and expeditiously granting five hectares of land at Alkaleri Local Government Area of the State for the purpose of constructing the cluster.
