BREAKING: Multiple Explosions Shake Maiduguri

Residents of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, were thrown into panic on Monday evening following a series of loud explosions across parts of the city.

The blasts are suspected to have been caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) allegedly planted by Boko Haram terrorists in different locations within the metropolis.

Areas reportedly affected include the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), the Monday Market Roundabout, and the Elkanemi area.

According to local sources, the first explosion occurred at about 7:00 p.m., shortly after Muslims broke their fast.

As of the time of reporting, it remains unclear whether the incident resulted in casualties.

The explosions happened just hours after terrorists reportedly attacked a military position in Ajilari, an outskirts community of Maiduguri. During the attack, the assailants allegedly set parts of the military facility on fire and made away with a military patrol vehicle.

However, security forces were said to have repelled the attack, killing several of the terrorists while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
