British High Commission Partners CAC to Digitise 100+ Years of Legacy Records
Historic Collaboration to Modernize CAC Archives Dating Back to 1912

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has secured a significant partnership as the British High Commission pledged its support to digitise the Commission’s legacy records, a project aimed at transforming corporate data access and regulatory efficiency in Nigeria.
The commitment was reaffirmed on Monday, May 12, 2025, during a strategic visit by a delegation from the British High Commission to the CAC headquarters in Abuja. The delegation, led by Mr. Chris Okeke, Head of the Government Team, was warmly received by Registrar-General and CEO of the CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN.
Mr. Okeke described the visit as a follow-up to an earlier engagement held in November 2024, reiterating the UK’s readiness to support Nigeria’s corporate regulatory reforms. He commended the Registrar-General for CAC’s compliance-driven initiatives, especially its collaborative efforts with other regulatory bodies.
Also speaking, Mr. Jehanzeb Khan, a member of the British team, stressed the importance of enforcement and compliance mechanisms to enhance corporate transparency and fight corruption.
In his response, Registrar-General Magaji expressed gratitude for the British government’s willingness to support CAC’s ambitious digitisation initiative. He revealed that the Commission holds archival records dating as far back as 1912, and that digitising these would revolutionize access, tracking, and compliance enforcement for registered entities.
“This collaboration is a leap forward in our mission to strengthen corporate governance. Our current compliance drives are not just about regulation—they’re about ensuring transparency, obtaining beneficial ownership details, and aligning sector-based licensing data,” Magaji stated.
As part of the engagement outcome, a six-member task team was constituted from the CAC to work closely with the British High Commission in identifying specific areas for technical assistance, capacity building, and digitisation support.
The visit marks a notable stride in Nigeria’s journey towards a more transparent and digitized business environment, in line with global best practices.
