Federal Government Opens 2026 TVET Programme Applications

The Federal Government has officially opened applications for the 2026 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical skills for employment and self-reliance.
Under the programme, participants will receive free vocational training in various fields while also earning a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 throughout the training period.
The initiative is designed to support youths by providing hands-on skills in areas such as tailoring, welding, solar installation, ICT repairs, agriculture, and other vocational trades.
According to the government, the training will be completely free, with no tuition fees required from participants. Beneficiaries are also expected to receive certificates upon completion, while some outstanding participants may receive startup tools and support to begin their own businesses.
Training centres have been made available across different states in Nigeria, allowing applicants from various parts of the country to participate. The duration of the programme is expected to range between six months and one year depending on the chosen skill area.
The programme is open to unemployed youths, school leavers, graduates, non-graduates, and anyone interested in acquiring practical skills for economic empowerment.
Applicants are expected to provide details such as their National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), and demonstrate commitment to completing the training.
Many Nigerians have expressed interest in the initiative, noting that unlike some empowerment programmes, the TVET programme combines free training, financial support during learning, and possible startup assistance after graduation.
Although the Federal Government has not announced a closing date for applications, registration is currently ongoing, and interested applicants are advised to apply early due to limited spaces.
Applications can be submitted through the official portal: https://www.tvet.education.gov.ng/?utm_source=
