Tinubu Dismisses Wale Edun, Dangiwa in Cabinet Shake-up

Bola Tinubu has removed Wale Edun from his position as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, alongside Umar Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
The development was announced in an official memo by George Akume.
According to the directive, Edun is to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who will assume the role of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State for Finance.
For the Housing Ministry, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as minister-designate, while Dangiwa has been instructed to transfer responsibilities to the Minister of State in the ministry.
All handover processes are expected to be completed by the close of business on April 23, 2026.
Explaining the move, Akume said the reshuffle is aimed at improving coordination in governance and enhancing economic delivery under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers in making the changes.
The President also appreciated the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future pursuits, noting that efforts to strengthen the cabinet will continue.
