Gov. Yusuf Approves ₦3bn Roads, Gives ₦100m to Singer Market Victims

The Kano State Government has approved more than ₦3 billion for the expansion and rehabilitation of road networks in and around Singer Market, aimed at improving access and enhancing commercial activities in the area.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa.

The approval followed a visit by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to Singer Market, where he sympathised with traders whose shops were recently destroyed by a fire outbreak.

Expressing concern over the extent of the losses, the governor assured the affected traders of the state government’s commitment to supporting them during the difficult period.

Governor Yusuf directed the immediate expansion and rehabilitation of key roads within and around the market, noting that the project estimated at about ₦3 billion would focus on major access routes serving the commercial hub.

In addition, he announced a ₦100 million relief package for traders affected by the fire, describing the gesture as a measure to ease the impact of the losses suffered.

As part of efforts to modernise major markets across the state, the governor also pledged to provide solar-powered street lights at Singer Market.

He further directed contractors handling the road projects to mobilise to site and begin work within ten days.

Leaders and elders of Singer Market expressed appreciation to the governor for his visit and interventions, describing them as timely and compassionate.
