Islamic Cleric urges Muslims to use their wealth and feed the poor

As the month of Ramadan approaches, wealthy Muslims in the country have been urged to use their wealth and feed the poor in the wake of the current hike in food prices.
A renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Guruntum made the reminder during his weekly Tafsir programme at the School of Nursing mosque, Bauchi.

Sheikh Ahmad Guruntum who observed with great concern the level of poverty bedevilling most people in both urban and rural areas said from all indication Muslims will again observe the holy month in a harsh food prices situation, calling on wealthy individuals to assist the less privileged in their midst.
The Cleric quoted from the Qur’an and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad reminded leaders of the need to provide adequate security for the lives and property of the people that voted them into power.

Sheikh Guruntum said no leader that led up to ten people on earth will not be dragged before Allah during the day of judgment, stressing that the only action that will set such leaders free is their good leadership.

On insecurity, the Islamic scholar who decried the current kidnappings and other forms of insecurity in the society said leaders must wake up to their responsibility as they would be accounted for in the hereafter.
