Lagos First Lady Empowers 500 Beneficiaries with Vocational Tools to Boost Livelihoods

LAGOS — In a significant move to enhance economic empowerment and reduce unemployment across Lagos State, the First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has empowered 500 beneficiaries with essential tools and equipment to support various vocational trades.

The empowerment programme, held at Lagos House in Ikeja, featured the distribution of tools across multiple sectors, including construction vocations such as bricklaying, plumbing, welding, auto electrics, aluminum works, carpentry, and tiling. Other trades supported included tailoring, catering, as well as equipment like grinding machines, popcorn machines, spraying machines, and mechanical tools.

The initiative, which aims to promote self-reliance and foster economic growth, was made possible through the support of key development partners including First City Monument Bank, Providus Bank, the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, and the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Trade & Investment.

The wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, who represented the First Lady at the event, reiterated the administration’s commitment to creating sustainable livelihoods and empowering residents to become job creators rather than job seekers.

“This empowerment is not just about tools, it’s about transforming lives and building a resilient economy,” she stated.

The event was attended by top government officials, stakeholders, and well-wishers. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and pledged to make good use of the support to improve their lives and give back to their communities.

With this initiative, Lagos continues to set the pace in grassroots empowerment and inclusive economic development.
