The Nigerian Army’s 3 Division, based in Rukuba near Jos, has launched a new military operation aimed at tackling banditry and other security threats in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The development was announced on Friday by Lt.Col. Victor Olukoya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the division, in a statement issued in Jos.

Operation Bugun Karkanda III Launched

According to Olukoya, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division, Maj.Gen. Folunsho Oyinlola, officially inaugurated the operation, which has been codenamed “Operation Bugun Karkanda III.”

He explained that the mission is designed to restore peace and strengthen security in communities that have been vulnerable to attacks by bandits and other criminal elements.

The operation will particularly focus on Mansur village and nearby settlements in Alkaleri LGA, where residents have faced security challenges in recent times.

Military Commitment to Protect Communities

Olukoya said the initiative represents a decisive step by the Nigerian Army to curb the activities of terrorists, bandits, and other non state actors threatening the safety of residents in Bauchi State.

He added that Maj.Gen. Oyinlola has urged troops involved in the mission to remain highly professional and vigilant while carrying out their duties.

According to him, the launch of the operation demonstrates the Army’s renewed determination to safeguard lives and property across communities within its operational area.

Early Signs of Progress

The Army spokesman also noted that the operation has already started producing positive results, with troops recording early successes in their efforts to stabilize the affected communities.

The military assured residents that it would continue to intensify security efforts to ensure lasting peace in Alkaleri and other vulnerable areas of Bauchi State.
