Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) says its political discussions with the All Progressives Congress, APC, have been formally discontinued.
State Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Sama’ila Adamu Burga, made this known during a press conference held at the PDP Secretariat along Yandoka Road in Bauchi.
He said the briefing was aimed at informing the public on developments concerning the party, its leadership, and key stakeholders.
According to him, the discussions followed an invitation by the APC to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, PDP members, and other elected officials to consider joining the ruling party.
He explained that the governor and PDP leadership participated in the engagement in good faith, in line with their commitment to dialogue and inclusiveness.
However, after consultations, the conditions presente, particularly on issues of party structure and and the sharing formula were found to be unacceptable.
Alhaji Burga therefore announced that the talks did not reach a conclusive agreement and have now been formally brought to an end.
Responding to questions from journalists, he said the party is mindful of electoral timelines and will take all necessary steps to meet legal requirements without leaving any stone unturned.
He added that the PDP will continue to explore available political options in the overall interest of its members and the people of Bauchi State.
