Prof. Tahir Emerges New Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Dallari Appointed Registrar

The Yobe State Government has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Bashir Tahir as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Yobe State University, Damaturu.
The approval was granted by the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, following a recommendation by the university’s Governing Council at its meeting held on January 15, 2026.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Alhaji Ahmed Goniri.
According to the statement, “The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Bashir Tahir as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Damaturu, following a recommendation by the Governing Council of the university.”
Professor Tahir is a Professor of General Surgery and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Medical Director of the Ultra-Modern Police Hospital, Damaturu. He will take over from Professor Bukar Jamri, who had been serving as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Meanwhile, the Governing Council has also approved the appointment of Mallam Isa Audu Dallari as the substantive Registrar of Yobe State University.
“The Governing Council of Yobe State University has approved the appointment of Mallam Isa Audu Dallari as the substantive Registrar of the university at its meeting held on January 15, 2026,” the statement added.
The appointment followed a recommendation by the Selection Committee, in line with the provisions of the Yobe State University Law, 2006 (as amended). Dallari is currently a Director of Administration at Yobe State University, Damaturu.
