Tinubu Approves Posting of 65 Nigerian Ambassadors to Foreign Missions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to various diplomatic missions across the world, including the United Nations, according to an official statement released on Friday.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

According to the statement, the president approved the deployment of 31 career ambassadors and 34 non-career ambassadors to represent Nigeria in different countries and international organisations.

Onanuga disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria has already received the diplomatic approval (agrément) from the United Kingdom for Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, while the government of France has also granted agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.

He further explained that the ministry has transmitted the nominations of the remaining 62 ambassadors-designate to their respective host countries while requesting the required diplomatic approval in line with international diplomatic practice.

The presidential spokesman also noted that President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin an induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners.

The statement added that the ambassadors were earlier confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December 2025.

  • Senator Ita Enang – South Africa

  • Victor Ikpeazu – Spain

  • Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu – Israel

  • Mahmoud Yakubu – Qatar

  • Reno Omokri – Mexico

  • Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau – China

  • Lateef Kayode Are – United States

  • Jimoh Ibrahim – Permanent Representative to the United Nations

  • Femi Fani-Kayode – Germany

  • Prof. Isaac Adewole – Canada

  • Yakubu N. Gambo – Saudi Arabia

  • Senator Nora Ladi Daduut – South Korea

  • Barr. Onueze Chukwujika Okocha – Ireland

Selected Career Ambassadorial Postings
