EFCC Detains Cubana Chief Priest Over Alleged Naira Abuse

In a notable development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody Pascal Okechukwu, famously known as Cubana Chief Priest on allegations of Naira abuse.

This move by the EFCC follows growing concerns regarding the extravagant display of Naira notes by influential figures.

Cubana Chief Priest, a prominent businessman and socialite, was apprehended by EFCC operatives as part of an ongoing investigation into financial impropriety. The detention is prompted by a viral video circulating on social media, purportedly showing Cubana Chief Priest engaging in the reckless spraying of Naira notes at a high-profile event.

The EFCC has confirmed that Cubana Chief Priest will be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos today, Wednesday. The charges against him include three counts related to the abuse of Naira, specifically spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at social events, contravening the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed Cubana Chief Priest’s detention and forthcoming arraignment, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has intensified its crackdown on individuals implicated in Naira abuse. This comes on the heels of the recent conviction of popular cross-dresser, Bobrisky, on similar charges. The EFCC has stated its commitment to investigating and prosecuting all cases of Naira abuse, urging the public to adhere to financial regulations.

In response to criticism, the EFCC clarified its stance on the matter, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy towards Naira abuse. The agency has vowed to investigate and prosecute anyone found guilty of compromising the integrity of the national currency.

The EFCC’s efforts to combat Naira abuse have garnered support from the public, signaling a growing awareness of the importance of preserving the sanctity of Nigeria’s currency. As the investigation unfolds, the EFCC remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding financial integrity and holding accountable those who violate the law.
