PDP to Challenge APC in Court Over Abuja Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the formation of a special legal team to challenge the results of the local government elections held in the Federal Capital Territory.
The move follows the declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which showed that APC candidates won chairmanship positions in five out of the six area councils.
According to the results, APC secured victories in Abaji, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Kwali, and Kuje, while PDP won only in Gwagwalada. The elections were conducted to fill six chairmanship positions and 62 councillorship seats.
The party alleged that the polls were marked by low voter turnout and reports of vote-buying.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, PDP congratulated the declared winners but insisted that irregularities affected the outcome.
The party said its legal team will be led by its National Legal Adviser, Shafi Bara’u, and called on all aggrieved candidates to promptly submit their complaints for legal action.
