Governor Bala Visits Rescued Abductees in Alkaleri

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed paid a compassionate visit to Duguri Primary Healthcare Centre to commiserate with over 50 abducted victims recently rescued from bandits in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The visit follows intensified security operations in the area after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the deployment of military personnel to Alkaleri, leading to the successful rescue of the victims. At the facility, the Governor interacted with the survivors, many of whom are receiving medical attention and psychological support after their ordeal.
Governor Bala Mohammed expressed deep concern over their condition, describing the experience as traumatic and unfortunate. He noted with regret that many of the victims were innocent individuals who had unknowingly become entangled in illegal mining activities, which exposed them to grave danger.
The Governor also extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift intervention, noting that the timely deployment of security forces played a critical role in the success of the rescue operation and the restoration of calm in the affected communities.
He emphasized the need for increased public awareness, directing relevant government agencies and community leaders to intensify sensitization campaigns on the dangers and legal implications of illegal mining. He stressed that ignorance of the law does not protect citizens from its consequences, and that proactive education is essential to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Governor Bala Mohammed further assured the victims of the state government’s continued support, including access to medical care, rehabilitation, and reintegration assistance. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security collaboration with federal authorities to safeguard lives and restore lasting peace across affected communities.
