2027 Will Be My Final Presidential Bid – Atiku

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared that the 2027 general election will be his last attempt to become Nigeria’s president.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Atiku said the stakes are higher for him as he approaches the next election cycle, where he will be 80 years old.
He stated clearly that 2027 would mark his final outing in the presidential race, describing the decision as definitive.
Atiku also defended his continued ambition, arguing that his long political experience positions him to lead the country at a critical time. He added that leadership requires a blend of experience and insight gained over the years.
The former vice-president expressed concerns about the performance of younger leaders, noting that expectations have not been fully met and emphasizing the need for mentorship from more experienced politicians.
He cited his time working with former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a key learning period that shaped his leadership perspective.
Atiku’s remarks are expected to spark renewed debate on age, experience, and generational leadership as the 2027 elections approach.
